New Battlefield 4 Patch Rolling Out

DICE has finally pushed out a brand new patch that aims to introduce a number of fixes that were first introduced in the recently released Community Test Environment, including the long-awaited "High Frequency Network update" for PC that DICE's GM spoke of earlier. Players will also note improved character collision, reduced screen shake from explosions, and the ability to swap trigger and bumper commands on the consoles.

PC players will also now be able to control how frequently their game updates to better suit their hardware specs. The update is now available on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 and will be hitting Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this week.

Battlefied 4 PC June 3 Patch Notes

  • Improved/reduced explosion induced camera shake
  • Character collision improvements
  • Fix to reduce object damage mismatch between client/server.
  • Fix explosion packs not being able to be shot sometimes
  • Improvements for client side packet loss
  • Client crash fixes
  • AMD Mantle multi-GPU improvements
  • Carrier Assault game mode reports bug fix
  • High Frequency Network update
  • Added High frequency "bubble"” updating player movement, stance, rotation, damage and projectiles at a separate rate on foot and in vehicles
  • Added option to control client side update rate setting

30hz seems to be the absolute limit.

My feedback is that it has improved things, but it's still not as good as bf3 and that is not good, all things considered.

So, setting network frequencies to high should improve something eh? Or is not gone be the case for everyone?

It improves how often the server info is updated on your client, so it feels snappier. Word 'round the campfire is that if you are seeing the network latency widget onscreen you should lower the amount, or pick a lower ping server.

At last, the hit registration & damage seems more realistic now. Game is quite playable now.
