New AMD layoffs - this time EMEA staff
We've just learned that one week before Christmas AMD again is enforcing another round of layoffs. EMEA = Europe, Middle East and Africa. From what we heard 100 of the roughly 250 people that still where active at AMD EMEA have been fired, with around 20 going from Germany alone two weeks ago and around 15 of the UK operation given the bad news last week.
It's weird, because things are finally picking up and Phenom II is looking pretty good, despite that more and more people are getting fired.
When you look at the layoffs accumulated, you'll notice that two fifths of AMDs workforce now was fired. That's a horrendous number and you start to wonder with how much people AMD can actually run their business ?
My thoughts are with the people who learned they have been made redundant this week.
