NETGEAR Launches new Advanced Cable Modem - does 1 Gbps
Netgear has introduced the NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.0 AC1900 Voice and Data Cable Gateway (C7000B). The C7000B offers cable broadband service providers the fastest gateway available with WiFi speeds up to 1900 (600+1300) Mbps and DOCSIS speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second.
The NETGEAR C7000B raises the bar with its incredibly fast WiFi. It gives service provider subscribers the power to wirelessly connect to all of their mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets, as well as fixed devices such as smart TVs, faster than ever before. Enhancing the ultra-fast WiFi connection for end-users is the addition of explicit and implicit Beamforming+. Unique to NETGEAR, Beamforming+ directs a WiFi "beam" to each device, creating a better, more consistent connection; the inclusion of implicit Beamforming enables Beamforming technology to be supported even on legacy client devices.
In addition to ultra-fast speeds, the C7000B utilizes purpose-built features for service providers. Built-in NETGEAR Enhanced Support Tools, with SNMP, TR-069 and NETGEAR genie, offer cable operators comprehensive, simple-to-use tools for customer support, remote device management and field upgrades, all of which can help lower overall support costs. High power amplifiers and antennae design, similar to those used in the market-leading NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router (R7000), offer superior extended WiFi coverage. Hotspot capabilities using GRE soft tunneling enable operators to virtually expand their network and provide more connection points to their customers. An integrated 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch and PacketCable 2.0 provide enhanced data and HD voice capabilities.
"The NETGEAR C7000B is our most advanced gateway available for cable service providers. The blazingly-fast AC1900 WiFi and DOCSIS Gigabit speeds enable service provider customers to have the world's fastest WiFi for all of their devices, anywhere in the home," said Naveen Chhangani, director of product management for NETGEAR Service Provider Business. "Best-in-class performance along with ease-of-use sets the C7000B apart from competitive offerings. We are confident that both service providers and their subscribers will appreciate NETGEAR's continued commitment to quality, ease-of-use and reliability."
The C7000B offers end-users some additional unique features. End-users can easily manage their home networks with NETGEAR genie providing them control and peace of mind that their WiFi is functioning at its best and is safe and protected. Secure, one-step installation is easy with the push of a button with Push 'N' Connect and WPS. Parental controls provide parents with the ability to set limitations on children's use of the Internet. Guest Network gives end-users the ability to create separate, secure access for guests while EZ Mobile Connect provides quick guest network access with the ease of a QR code scan. MyMedia creates the ability for connected users to be able to find and play media files from the network, while TurboTransfer enables quick file sharing within the home network among Mac and Android devices. The C7000B with advanced Quality of Service (QoS) also enables watching videos, surfing the Web and playing video games with fewer connectivity interruptions and minimal buffering. Upstream and downstream QoS means that when end-users enable advanced QoS in the C7000, they give the gateway the ability to prioritize high-demand network traffic such as streaming video and video games.
The NETGEAR C7000B offers additional features including:
- 24x8 DOCSIS 3.0 Modem
- IPv6 support
- Simultaneous dual-band WiFi AC1900
- WiFi Boost with high-powered radio amplifiers
- Four Gigabit Ethernet ports
The C7000B is available now for service provider trials.

but they are testing it, after they do... gogo.
In barcelona there r a few streets which have it, at quite good price IMO. Not that it worths so much... 20mbps is more than enough in my opinion for 99% ppl
not in the states, EU/Asia is more along as far those kind speeds go
I currently pay 109$ for 100mbit + Phone line, and i sure there people out there they pay hell of alot more for lot less speed.
1gbps is great and I Would love it but know the prices for just 100mbit makes me cringe at what they might charge for 1gbps.
Hell there are people out there that pay 29.99 for 3mbit which even more of rip off ( points at Verizon dsl in the states) which was customer of for 10+ years before my bill for 1 house number 1 dsl number + the actual dsl service was toping out at 110$ a month.
Which why i droped verizon for Optimum if i gona pay that kind money i better have speed to go with it.

I can already hear Comcast smiling. They'll be like, "oh you want 1Gb/s? Starting price of $999/month, then we raise it to $4,500 after one year."

In Spain, the biggest cable company "Ono" gives you 200/15 Mbps for 60 €/month (taxes included) if you have a PS4, if not, it only gives you 100/10 Mbps (yep, makes no sense at all).
The small cable companies have better offers.
As for FTTH, Jazztel FTTH gives you 200/200 Mbps for 58 €/month and Adamo FTTH gives you 1.000/200 Mbps for 45 €/month.
Unlike Comcast, none have bandwidth caps or P2P throttling.
