Do you have a Netgear Orbi router that is set to receive automatic firmware updates? Well, Netgear has acknowledged that a recent upgrade stops users from accessing the admin panel, and locks you out completely

The problematic firmware that got issued is v4.6.8.2, initially released on April 27 and affects customers of Orbi RBK85x and RBK75x Series Mesh Wi-Fi 6 products. Problems were shortly reported on Netgear's own forums as well as Reddit, and the update is still available to download manually through Netgear Support, reports Club386. Netgear stated on its real-time status page,

"we are aware of an issue affecting the Orbi RBK85x and RBK75x Series Mesh WiFi 6 Systems." “Some customers can no longer access or manage their Orbi systems through the Orbi app or the web user interface. A factory reset usually resolves this issue. We are working to understand the root cause and identify an alternative recovery method that doesn’t require a factory reset.”

According to internet reports, consumers were able to regain full functioning by calling Netgear support professionals, who were able to send solutions to impacted customers with a valid serial number. A wider release of updated software is planned soon. These kits cost anywhere from 700 upwards to 1000 EUR. You'd expect better than that eh?
