Oh yeah, and here's another photo being released today. this is the flagship motherboard from MSI, the pending X99 based MSI X99S XPOWER AC. The MSI X99S XPOWER AC features the traditional yellow and black color scheme of their most high-end XPOWER motherboards.

The company mentions that this motherboard will feature a "Hardware Streaming Engine". As you guys kn ow you can pair X99 with Intel's upcoming 6 and 8 core CPU series for desktops in 2014 for the enthusiast grade Haswell-E platform.  With Haswell-E, Intel will do away with 4-core configurations of these GPU-less dies and offer users a choice of 6 and 8 core CPUs, with up to 20 MB of L3 cache. Of course, Hyper Threading isn’t going anywhere giving the CPU a maximum of 16 logical cores. Maximum TDP for the platform will lie in the range of 130W to 140W and the processors itself will be built on 22nm 2nd generation Hi-k process.

A big new feature is the support for DDR4 RAM clocked up to 2133 MHz (default) but we heard rumors that DD$ memory may pass 3 GHz. The Wellsburg X-PCH (X99) will support a number of connectivity options:

  • Up to 6 x USB 3.0 ports
  • Up to 8 x USB 2.0 ports
  • Up to 10 x SATA 6 Gbps ports
  • Integrated Clock support
  • TDP of 6.5W
Some features we noticed
  • Dual 8-Pin connectors.
  • DIGITALL Power VRM
  • Military Class IV components
  • four DDR4 DIMM slots
  • Expansion slots include five PCI-e 3.0 x 16 slots to support 4-Way SLI and CrossFire graphics cards.
  • A single PCI-e 3.0 x1 slots and a mSATA Connector to support the latest NGFF solid state drives.
  • Overclock swtiches which include OC Genie, Power On/Off, Voltage Adjustments, BCLK Increase/Lower buttons and V-Check panel to measure voltages during overclocking sessions.
  • Diagnostic LED
  • 10 SATA 6GBps connectors (two SATA Express ports)

Haswell-E will bring a new version of your same old LGA 2011 socket with it. Dubbed LGA 2011-3, the derived socket has the same dimensions and ball pattern pitch as LGA 2011. We spot E-ATX, 4way SLI/CFX, ten SATA 6 Gbps ports with inclided 2x SATA Express, A diagnostic POST LED and 8 DIMM slots. AC indications a Wireless WIFI AC compatible module is included as well.

Unfortunately the photo has been photoshopped by MSI to mystify the board a bit. Still, that is a great looking motherboard.
