MSI aesthetically pleasing Dark Design MSI MEG X570 Unify motherboard (updated)
RGB has been a trend that has developed big time and got implemented into anything you can give some power. Now, I've been saying to graphics card and motherboard manufacturers for years now, make a motherboard of graphics card that is completely black with no added RGB bling.
I mean, just a stylish design motherboard all dark and not extra color tones, wouldn't that be cool? Well, it seems that MSI is taking that comment seriously, on social media they have started teasing a new board, in a recent Livestream, they actually show an X570 motherboard that is designed completely in black.
The network is equipped with 2.5 Gigabit LAN by Realtek “8125CG” and wireless LAN function of Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) by Intel AX200, enabling high-speed network connection regardless of wired or wireless. It supports overclocking of the 3rd generation Ryzen series by combining 12+2+1 phase IR digital power circuit, 8pin x 2 auxiliary power connector, large MOSFET heat sink, server-grade PCB and so on.
- Socket: Socket AM4
- Chipset: AMD X570
- Form factor: ATX
- Memory slot: DDR4-4600 + x 4 (supports up to 128GB / dual channel)
- Expansion slots: PCI-Express4.0 (x16) x2, PCI-Express4.0 (x4 / x16 shape) x1, PCI-Express4.0 (x1) x2
- Storage: SATA3.0 (6Gbps) x 4, Lightning M.2 x 3
- LAN: 2.5 Gigabit LAN x 1 (Realtek 8125CG), Wi-Fi 6 wireless LAN
- Sound: 7.1ch HD audio (Realtek ALC1220)
- Interface: 2.5 Gigabit LAN x1, USB3.2 Gen.2 x4 (Type-A x3 / Type-C x1), USB3.2 Gen.1 x2, USB2.0 x2, Audio terminal x5, Optical audio terminal x 1, PS / 2 x 1
- External dimensions: W305 × H244mm
As you can see, this is a properly outfitted motherboard with three full PCI slots available. You can see two 8-pin power connectors and onboard power button and reset buttons as well as a 2.5 Gbps ethernet jack and AX WIFI6. MSI has been focusing a lot on cooling, including the three M2 slits having heatsinks. The chipset fan is absed onZ eroFroz technology, ergo it is passively cooling at low load levels. The motherboard is named MSI MEG X570 Unify and from the looks of things, it'll cost 239 USD. She's pretty alright.

MSI working on 1000 MHz R4890 Cyclone - 05/07/2009 09:46 AM
The fact that the Radeon HD 4890 has a GPU that can be clocked fairly high, is not a secret. MSI however is working in something rather special. See typically the 4890 cards can be clocked at 900 MHz,...

If the lack of Bling and RGB crap has brought the price down, i'm happy.
This is a pretty nice looking board for once, and its not too expensive as X570's go.
Its also pretty stable, and has VRM's that are well cooled.
Just wish there was some more mATX love...

@DLD
or not. been working on my/friends/family computers since 2001, working as tech in multiple shops/stores in europe and the US since 2005,
yet to see more than one here and there getting killed by runtime (and not dust etc, caused by user, directly or indirectly).
look at amds requirement for power on the bridge and required cooling, and see how big it would need to be if its passive.
Not even talking about the fact that these dont run all the time (on balanced its not coming on before 75*C) which extends life, or that i have used +10 of small fans (below 60 mm) from brands like noiseblocker/noctua for years, again: without one dying while i had them.
or that there have been a few years since there were some issues with small fans (mainly on gpus, having higher temps/runtime), and i doubt board makers decided to design these with 1y life expectancy in mind,
if it fails i will do what i did with anything else that failed in the past 15y, replace it.
and the size of the fan isnt telling you how reliable it is, tis the build quality.

There are two boards in the all x570 line up with no fans and is the top of the line 999 asrock and the 650 gigabyte.
we have to accept that the x570 has to have fans
and that story that small fans break down faster has to do with the fans that old motherboards brought not these new ones

You can still replace it by a real silent and reliable fan if the constructor have left the standard connection (btw blame Gigabyte to use a non standard one), or use a a good passive radiator or a watercooler as nearly every WC maker work on it (Yes we are not the only ones to hate chipset fan lol).
The good point is the removal of those plastic doing this

Sadly no, they are heavy used due to their small size as they need more RPM for the same amount of air than an higher diameter of fan, on server side there is heavy use of 40, 50 and 60Mm fan and they fail a lot more than 120 or 140Mm of same quality grade (that sadly are unusable on short U device), when i was working 40 was the most that we had in stock for intervention.
Passive is better but sometime you can't do without fan...

Are you gonna get off on your mainboard? If so I am interested.
