MSI will offer BIOS Update for Intel 400-Series Motherboards to Support Re-Size BAR

As a world-leading motherboard brand, MSI contributes to providing gamers and creators an extremely pleasant experience when users choose MSI motherboards. For the sake of the fulfillment of goals, MSI keeps updating the latest version BIOS for users to download and to increase performance.

MSI prepares to release BIOS update for all Intel 400-series motherboards, including Z490, B460 and H410 chipsets. According to planning schedule, the first batch is expected to Z490 motherboards. All BIOS update for Z490 will be available by this week. As for B460 and H410 motherboards, the BIOS update will be completely released in the next two weeks. Please follow the product pages for the updated BIOS. The key function of BIOS update is to support Re-Size BAR. Re-Size BAR is a platform approach for more performance. It can encourage the system to access the VRAM on the graphics cards and take use of full capacity. After testing, the function operates well. The following image shows MEG Z490 GODLIKE with Re-Size BAR support.

For AMD platforms, MSI has updated AGESA 1.1.0.0 BIOS for AMD 400-series motherboards. With the BIOS update, the system memory of AMD 400-series motherboards can reach high performance, and users will definitely have an incredible experience. For the relevant BIOS update, please check the product pages and download the latest BIOS.

Interesting to note, a juice detail even; if you look at the Intel screenshot, MSI has an 8-core / 16-thread Rocket-Lake processor sitting on that Z490 mobo. The ES proc lists a multiplier range between 8.0 to 50.0, a base clock speed of 3.40 GHz, and 4.30 GHz boost. The CPU-Z screenshot also confirms AVX-512F ISA. Keep an eye out, processors that support Re-Size BAR are; Ryzen 5000 and newer, and for Intel all processors since Haswell. You need a compatible motherboard and firmware, as well as GPU support. For AMD that starts at RDNA2, thus the Radeon 6000 series. For Nvidia this is unclear at the moment, but it has been mentioned they're going to implement support on the latest RTX cards.

Also, the screenshot shows a 125W TDP. That's PL1 so for PL2 (max power usage for a certain time) it's going top be 250W.

If it's part of the PCIe spec and only requires a BIOS update then I wonder why it's not been included up till now?

The z490 boards need certain hardware too, many cheap z490 for ex. don't have this.
We're talking about Gen4 support yeah?
