When such thing electrocutes someone, I hope this stupidity will abruptly end.
Please, don't tell me how this sh...device is perfectly safe - high-power whatever and sweaty geeky backs are not entirely compatible.
Also no component is safe from failure. I had a failed PSU in my PC just a month or so ago - it happily continued to run and burn with smoke at the same time... I am not sure anyone will be happy for something like this to happen right behind their back, while actually be completely blinded...

Interesting school you went to!
12V DC isnt going to harm you. It can only stop the device working if it gets wet, but that wont happen unless you lie on your back with it underneath you. Not a VR requirement.
Low voltage, no chance of harm.
Try it, touch the yellow and black wires coming from your PSU with wet fingers.
You could touch it to your tongue and have a trip but its not a valid test, its not a VR requirement.
There is no mains voltage.

I mean if you have a lightning rod attached to it then you're in danger.
12v would just feel like a prick in the finger.

Could? So the 1060 model and some less demanding game and it might be OK and then in some more demanding game or with the 1070 model you get this wonderful experience with truly feeling the heat?
(Well the 1.5 hour battery time ensures it won't get too uncomfortable I suppose.)
EDIT:

Well it's a novel idea but looking at that last image there might be a bit with said customer hearing muffled laughter because you're walking around like a zombie which might be a bit of a downer.
VR will likely continue to grow in popularity and use over the next couple of years though or so I'd imagine and there's probably going to be a growing interest in more mobile applications of the technology so it's a start I suppose.
(Though with wearing what essentially becomes a blindfold and waving your arms around with those controllers well for this particular device you'd probably want to stay indoors and in a fairly open space to avoid bumping into stuff.)
