MSI Stealth GS66 gets Core i9 10980HK (8-cores), RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, 300 Hz Panel

Marketing materials of the MSI notebook team have leaked and it is showing a product that is to be released on April 3rd. Yeah it is the MSI Stealth GS66, to be fitted with a Core i9 10980HK and GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q.

A number of specs, if not all of them have already leaked. Aimed against the Ryzen 9 4900HS we know that the Core i9 10980HK is an 8-core part with a single turbo towards 5.3 GHz, (base clock 2.5 GHz) I should add that it is a thermal velocity boost, ergo it only does that at just the right CPU temperature.

The laptop will get two 16GB ddr4-2666 DIMMs (64 GB supported) and a 2TB PCIe m.2 SSD. Embedded is a SteelSeries keyboard. Network wise you will see Killer E3100 Gigabit Ethernet and WiFi 6 AX1650. In addition to an HDMI 2.0 port, there is Thunderbolt 3, a USB 3.1 Type-C port and two USB 3.0 type-A ports.

New to see on the flagship model (GS66-10SGS) is a GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, a GPU that has not yet been released. Twitter phenomenon @momomo_us mentions the laptop is 358.3 x 248 x 19.8 mm and weighs 2.1 kg. it is fitted with a 15.6 " panel has a full HD display at .. wait for it ... 300 Hz at 3ms. Yeah if that doesn't drain your battery I do not know what will. The RTX 2080 Super Max-Q would get 3,072 shader processors paired with 8 GB gddr6 graphics memory at 14 Gbps.

We buy lots of MSI laptops at my company. I think our entire department has them in fact and there are two primary reasons : they have good GPUs in them and they are light. We get the models that weigh less than six pounds, like this one. However, we always get the ones with 17-inch displays. We never get the 15s because they are just too small and we have a lot of stuff to stare at.

If you think they will make a new chassis only for AMD you're very mistaken.
