MSI Shows Gold themed GeForce GTX 970 Limited Edition
At an UK event MSI has been showing a rather kitsch limited-edition GeForce GTX 970 Gold graphics card. The card is close to similar to the regular Gaming GTX 970 with the difference that its copper heatsibnk stack has not been nickle plated. Well that and the color design of course.
The back-plate comes with a golden colored "dragon" logo. Nothing was shared in terms of clock frequencies, but this seems to be more of a marketing build with extremely limited volume available.
Ehm yeah, I'd rather stick to the regular red/black gaming version regardless (review here), but also understand that some folks will really like these designs. The photo's are courtesy of KitGuru.

Copper heatsink must be heavy, but I'll bet it will make a nice improvement in temps. Not that the existing 970 cards have any temp issues, but MSI maybe should have done this on AMDs R9 cards instead.

If it's only for the looks... but I guess they are toying around with designs, possibly for PR reasons and as a test for any Lightning model maybe?

It's not just about looks, copper is a better conductor and will have a positive effect on temps.
This is surely overkill on a 970 that produces so little heat anyway but I love overkill!

I'd very much prefer chrome/silver/platinum over the color of pee.
