MSI releases a VR Boost Kit
MSI is pleased to introduce the VR Boost Kit. The VR Boost Kit makes VR more accessible by placing all the necessary connectors at the front of the PC. It includes a matte black 5.25 inch drive bay crafted from high quality materials which will fit into almost all mATX and ATX PC cases.
The drive bay features two USB 3.0 connectors and one HDMI connector to meet the requirements of VR headsets. A stylish expansion slot bracket is included for the HDMI cable to be neatly guided from the back of the graphics card through the PC. If black doesn’t go well with the exterior of the PC, a matte silver cover is included to create a lighter look. The MSI VR Boost Kit can be used with any MSI VR Ready graphics card and motherboard that supports USB 3.0 or higher.
To fully enjoy the impressive world of Virtual Reality, high-performance hardware is required. MSI GeForce® GTX 1080 and 1070 GAMING X & Z graphics cards deliver the perfect performance for a smooth VR experience. The MSI Gaming App now features the One-click to VR function to optimize PCs for smooth VR performance.
The MSI Gaming App allows gamers to quickly switch between OC, Gaming and Silent performance modes, depending on their needs. The latest version of MSI Gaming App features One-click to VR, which instantly optimizes your PC for the best Virtual Reality experience by ensuring maximum performance. It also includes host of premium features like EyeRest to improve image quality and Dragon Eye which allows you to watch a YouTube movie or stream while playing a game. It sound like a generic kit to me. By the description it would work with any graphics card with a HDMI output and a motherboard with a USB 3 header. I always hated those drive bay USB ports that are simply extension cables from the rear ports - it's cleaner looking to connect to internal header. If you can deal with an HDMI cable coming out the back of your case and looping right back inside and being run to the front, then this is for you.

I wonder if this would only work on MSI cards. Would love to use this for my G1 980ti.
