MSI Outs Wallet Friendly Radeon RX 590 ARMOR

It took MSI a while, but the Radeon RX 590 ARMOR edition is finding it's way to the stores as we speak. The tweaked 580 is fitted with the familiar two-slot dual fan cooler.

Thus far MSI had no model of the Radeon RX 590 from AMD available. The manufacturer is catching up and offering two variants of the graphics card. At the launch of the Radeon RX 590 in mid-November 2018, there was still no trace of MSI models. Now, almost three months later, the manufacturer leads the first RX 590 on its own product pages.

The Radeon RX 590 ARMOR edition is a more budget-friendly product. The product lineup has two models, one with a boost clock of 1,545 MHz, the  "Radeon RX 590 ARMOR 8 G" and then the tweaked model AT 1,565 MHz "Radeon RX 590 ARMOR 8 G OC". All other specifications are common, the memory clock is 8,000 MHz, the memory bus width is 256 bits, and the video memory is 8 GB (GDDR5). The output interface has DisplayPort ×2, HDMI ×2, Dual Link DVI-D ×1. Bus interface is PCI - Express 3.0 (x16), auxiliary power connector is 8 pin ×2, power consumption is rated at 220 W, weight is 873 g.

  • GPU: Radeon RX 590
  • SP number: 2,304
  • Core boost clock: 1,545 MHz / 1,565 MHz
  • Memory clock: 8,000 MHz
  • Video memory: GDDR 5 8 GB
  • Memory bus width: 256 bits
  • Output interface: DisplayPort × 2, HDMI × 2, DualLink DVI-D × 1
  • VGA cooler: "ARMOR" cooler
  • Bus interface: PCI - Express 3.0 (x16)
  • Auxiliary power supply: 8 pins × 2
The product is not listed at etailers just yet, but is expected to sell in the 275 EUR/USD price bracket.

I have an RX 580 Armor 8g and I used the exact same values which HH uses in his overclocking of the other RX 580 cards and I can say that I haven't had any issues with the stability of the card, so for me overall the Armor series is a great grab, especially for 190 euro, however I have my doubts if the 590 goes for more than 220.

Damn, that cooler looks tiny! I thought the RX 590's put off more heat than that?
