Prior to the actual launch photo's of MSI's upcoming GeForce GTX 780 Lightning have surfaced. The new card was posted at HardwareZone. Pictures show some amazing stuff in PCB and cooler design. The card seems to be using a cooler called TriFrozr that uses three fans and seven 8mm heatpipes.  The fans work independant from each other. A LED lit cover acts as load indicator.

That puppy draws its power from a two 8-pin PCIe power connectors and features a 20-phase digital PWM voltage regulation. All is military class based meaning high current chokes, International Rectifier PowIRstage, DirectFET chips, tantalum capacitors.

MSI's GPU Reactor module is back as well, cleaning up the power signal. The card comes with three BIOSes. One stores a failsafe reference BIOS, another factory-OC air BIOS, and one that primes the GPU for liquid-nitrogen cooling-assisted overclocking.

MSI is expected to launch the GTX 780 Lightning next week August 28, 2013.

Hmm.. Rumored price is 750 USD. Clocks are below that of EVGA Classified and Zotac AMP, and probably other brands too. But it sure is feature packed. Not for the average enthusiast I guess.

After having another look at that heatsink from underneat, there is quite a design flaw which prevents air from blow against the PCB to cool VRMs and stuff.

Look, it's almost completely blocked by heatpipes...
