MSI Announces the Flagship Radeon RX 6900 XT GAMING X TRIO Graphics Card series

MSI is proud to officially announce the Radeon RX 6900 XT GAMING X TRIO graphics card, powered by the groundbreaking AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture. AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics cards provide new levels of performance, incredible visual fidelity and advanced features to power amazing 4K gaming experiences.

The AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture at the core of the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Series is designed to deliver the optimal combination of performance and efficiency. It features a breakthrough high-speed design and enhanced power efficiency, designed to deliver higher performance with lower power consumption, and a new cache hierarchy designed to minimize data movement, latency and power usage. In addition, support for DirectX 12 Ultimate provides gamers with a powerful blend of raytracing, compute and rasterized effects to elevate games to a new level of realism. The Radeon RX 6900 XT GAMING X TRIO graphics card has been refreshed with a new look while maintaining the same great balance between the performance, cooling and quiet operation that gamers demand. Mystic Light adorns the exterior of the graphics card, illuminating color in sync with the rest of the PC through Mystic Light Sync and Ambient Link, all controlled with the Dragon Center software utility.

  • Torx Fan 4.0 – A new fan design features pairs of fan blades bound together with an outer link, forming a rim that focuses airflow into the updated TRI FROZR 2 cooling system.
  • Core Pipes – Precision-machined for maximum contact over the GPU and to spread the heat along the full length of the heatsink for optimal cooling.
  • Metal Backplate – A matte-finish backplate not only reinforces the graphics card, but also provides efficient passive cooling with the implementation of thermal pads.

MSI Afterburner is the world’s most recognized and widely used graphics card overclocking software. It gives gamers full control of their graphics card and enables them to monitor key system metrics in real-time. Afterburner provides a free performance boost for a smooth in-game experience thanks to higher FPS. The latest version of Afterburner supports the new Radeon RX 6900 XT Series graphics cards by MSI. The MSI GAMING X TRIO Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card is expected to be available in February, 2021. We already have a sample en-route for review.

Nice, although it will probably cost much more than the RX 6800 XT with only a little performance boost.
Talking of 6800 XT, if everything goes well my MSI RX 6800 XT Gaming Trio will be delivered today !

I wonder if there's any science behind that linked fan blade design. I'm not an aerodynamics engineer, but my gut feeling is telling me that design is a totally useless gimmick. Hopefully it doesn't hurt the performance.

To conclude, the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio is a great graphics card with an insane amount of performance packed under its hood. It runs cooler than its GeForce counterparts & consumes lower power. The card also manages to beat the GeForce RTX 3090 in select titles

I was just wondering about the fan blade design specifically. To know if they make any difference, you'd need to have the same card with normal fan blades and then those linked blades. Of course those linked blade fans must be designed to be like that, so it might be challenging to arrange a completely straightforward comparison.

The Gaming X Trio range isn't the flagship series, the Suprim X is, hence the former falls below that. To me, it like saying, for example, the PowerColor Red Dragon RX 6900 XT is the flagship card instead of the Red Devil RX 6900 XT.

MSI is reserving that flagship 'Suprim X' nomenclature to nVidia only. At least, that's the impression I have after reading TPU review of the Suprim X (in which they state that the Suprim X is positioned above the Gaming X). Maybe I'm just being pedantic...
