Middle-earth: Shadow Of War PC DRM Was Cracked Within 24 Hours
Middle-earth: Shadow of War has just been released (read our perf review here) and it uses the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. And as you may have guessed, the game has been cracked in just a day.
Shadow of War follows Total War: WARHAMMER 2 and FIFA 18; two games that were also cracked one day after their release. To be honest, we are really wondering whether it’s worth using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Denuvo was meant to protect the games for at least a respectable number of days after their official launch. However, all the three latest games using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech have been cracked in record time.
Denuvo's anti-tampering system, and others, are used to help address piracy reports gamespot. By comparison, Eurogamer reported that Mass Effect: Andromeda's DRM system was cracked in 10 days, while Resident Evil 7's was brought down in a little under a week. Denuvo is also used for games like Batman: Arkham Knight, Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
The Chinese cracking group 3DM said in 2016 that it believed anti-piracy measures on PC games would become so advanced that there might be an end to pirated games by 2018.

Hmm, what I experienced DRM wise (that is Denuvo btw) really isn't relevant for you guys. I means that was after the 4th install on a PC and afters witching like graphics 20 cards. So the way it is implemented seems fair.

But still, If you illegally downloaded the game you could have done as much testing as you would like. But now you legally bought it you get these kind of messages. So you're being punished for buying the game, although I understand that it's not relevant for a regalar gamer.
I'm still surprised the companies who make video games don't have some sort of version in which you switch as much hardware as you like.
I mean there are a lot of websites who make these kind of comparisons like you do, who will also have the same problems.

I hear you, but I use legal games solely. And that does come with these protections. It's a vicious circle, I know.

Yeah but what did locking you out for so long accomplish in the end? Steam CEG takes care of casual copying as it is and family share has its own risks and limitations. I also don't like how denuvo needs to relicense itself after a number of days determined by the publisher, which breaks offline mode. Anyway, it's ok, denuvo's invulnerability power up has expired so it will take care of itself
