Mid-range graphics cards shift in price (a little)

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/15/2010 09:58 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

As expected, the launch of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 460 cards is putting serious competition to the table for ATI. It seems that prices right now are dropping. The GTX 460 is positioned in the 200 USD market with the 768MB SKU. It competes directly with the R5830 and outclassed thr R5770 by far.

Let's have a peek at some shops, the Radeon HD 5830 for example at NewEgg can be spotted at surprize ... $199.99

The R5770 now can be found for prices as low as $149.99, but is no competition for the GTX 460.

We do expect the R5850 to drop a little in price as well, as the fastest GTX 460 SKUs can compete with it at 250 USD. However that product still hovers at the $309.99 level.

Meanwhile the GeForce GTX 460 sells at $199.99 for the 768 MB model, the SuperCLocked edition we tested for $219.99 and the one GB versions sell at $229.99
