Microsoft sends word that it is halting support for its Band wearables and that the Health dashboard will also stop on 31 May. The Band and Band 2 wearables can still be used, however with limited functionality.

The Microsoft Band mobile apps and the Health dashboard web app will be retired on May 31 reports. Users can export their data until 31 May, after which the cloud function of the app is no longer available. In addition, the app is removed from the Microsoft Store, Google Play and Apples App Store. According to Microsoft, it is still possible to continue to use some functions of the Band. This concerns the functions that can be viewed on the Band itself, such as the pedometer, heart rate monitor and alarm function. Microsoft warns users not to reset the Band after May 31st. This cannot be reset without support. People who used the Band until recently can request their money from Microsoft.

Microsoft is offering refunds to Microsoft Band owners that still have a device under warranty, or who used it between 12/1/2018 and 3/1/2019. If you’re eligible, you will be able to get $79.99 for your Band 1 or $175 for your Band 2, which is actually quite a lot for discontinued devices. “All eligible users will receive an email with refund instructions,” the company explained in a FAQ.
