Microsoft has the intention to bring more control over OS updates from the upcoming Windows 10 May 2019 Update towards you guys. Users can decide for themselves if and when to install the feature updates that appear twice a year, up to the end-of-service period.

Microsoft will notify users via notifications that there are current or new updates and will also give the advice to install them, but the final decision about whether and if so when the user will be responsible.

Microsoft reports this in an update on the Windows 10 May 2019 Update. When the end-of-service date for a Windows version has arrived or if it is coming, the OS will install the updates automatically again, to ensure that systems remain supported. For the current Windows October 2018 Update, for example, the end-of-service date of the Home and Pro versions is 12 May 2020.

The recent October update brought many issues towards end users, some could not even boot up anymore. In other news, the May 2019 update will stay extra long in Release Preview. Windows Update itself will get a 'download and install' button. This appears as soon as a new feature update is available.  You can block all updates for a maximum of 35 days, in five stages of one week.

The May 2019 Update for Windows 10 should reach the general public at ... the end of May.
