Microsoft to hold event for Windows 10 refresh at the end of this month
Microsoft has announced a digital event for June 24 to reveal what it plans to do with Windows. What this exactly means is still unclear, but other clues give us an idea.
Microsoft confirmed this Wednesday that it will hold an event on June 24 where it will unveil "the next generation of Windows . " Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, had already said days ago that the company planned to reveal more information about the new generation of the operating system, but now we have a specific date.
According to the event page , it will be possible to follow the transmission on June 24 from noon , Argentina time. Those interested can add a reminder to their calendars using this link . In addition to CEO Satya Nadella, the event will also feature the participation of Panos Panay, responsible for the Surface product line and also currently responsible for the Windows division. Although the event site does not provide more details, rumors circulating suggest that it will serve to present the Windows update known as Sun Valley . Apparently, this update will introduce several changes to the user interface and improvements in different areas of Windows. Recall that one of these novelties may be the supposed redesign of the Microsoft store . According to rumors, the company is preparing major improvements to the Windows app store, which has already received the go-ahead from developers after reducing its Microsoft Store commission to just 12% .
In addition to the improvements, the new version of Windows promises to bring important visual changes, along with several features of the Windows 10X operating system, which was recently canceled.

Well, if they will make it look better without destroying performance or cutting features - by all means.
However, I think at the end of the day - users should always have some options for customization.

My wild guess:
1) new minimum system requirements - 64-bit CPU, UEFI boot (GPT disk); recommended system requirements - 8 GBytes of RAM, NVMe SSD, CPU with AVX / AVX2, video card with Direct3D 12 / WDDM 3.0 drivers
2) revamped Windows I/O Manager stack to support DirectStorage for much faster disk access
3) implements USER32/GDI and UWP on top of Project Reunion unified windowing, though probably for built-in apps only
Then there will be the 'Sun Valley' user interface update - not sure what's so major about it, besides new icons and lighter Start Menu tiles; previews look mostly the same as regular UWP apps to me. This new UI would probably be the main focus of the June 24 event.

This is going to be interesting, but they always end up backing down from their most ambitious projects.
