Microsoft to follow Apple, designing their own ARM based processors
Microsoft is currently working on its own ARM-based processors, which will be targeted for servers and the Surface range.
Apple has already led the way with the decision to create its own chips under the ARM architecture and thus stop their dependence on Intel (or AMD). The Apple M1 made it quite obvious that they can offer good performance and, above all, reduce energy consumption. There are now signs that Microsoft would be looking to follow the same path, and that would be another blow for Intel, the company suffered a big drop in the stock market after the news was released. Microsoft's decision would have a smaller magnitude in terms of the Surface segment, but it will certainly not go unnoticed.
"The world's largest software maker is using ARM Ltd. designs to produce a processor that will be used in its data centers, according to people familiar with the plans. It is also exploring the use of another chip that could power some of its Surface line computers ”, indicated the US site Bloomberg.
"Because silicon is a fundamental building block for technology, we continue to invest in our own capabilities in areas such as design, fabrication and tooling, while fostering and strengthening partnerships with a wide range of chip vendors." said Frank Shaw, a Microsoft spokesman.

Seems a large blurry statement, do you have any source to dig deeper?

Interesting times in the chip industry. Nvidia buying ARM, Apple and Microsoft "moving" to ARM, AMD competing strongly with Intel.
That smells potential further concentrations. Who will buy whom ?
