Microsoft Store layout designs, concepts leaked
Layout designs of Microsoft's upcoming retail stores have been leaked in a PowerPoint Presentation. The presentation was drafted by Lippicott, a "design and brand strategy" consultant firm reportedly hired by Microsoft to help further the concept and design of the stores. The leak indicates Microsoft will be borrowing elements from other retailers such as the Apple Store and Sony Style. The stores will center around Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7, Xbox, PCTV, and Windows Mobile.
Frank Shaw and Waggener Edstrom, Microsoft employees, commented on the leaked presentation stating, "As a part of our process in briefing creative agencies, we shared some early prototypes and concepts of our retail store plans. No final decisions have been made."
Microsoft plans to target a customer demographic they call "Emily," who is described by Gizmodo as "a younger version of your mom."
The prototype designs indicate there will be a Digital Media Wall that wraps around the store, used to display video and images. The designs indicate the stores will provide a rival to Apple's Genius Bar with its own "Answers Bar" or "Guru Bar." The stores will additionally host large demos and events regarding Project Natal and the reported project Pink. The stores will also host birthday parties. Check out the thumbs.
