Microsoft sets August 1st launch date for Windows 8.1
It seems that Microsoft is planning an August 1st launch date for Windows 8.1. The public preview of Windows 8.1 is scheduled to arrive on June 26, which means that if the August launch date is correct, the final release will follow barely over a month later, leaving Microsoft little time to address bug reports and other feedback.
Now that we've been shown a glimpse of the Start button's long-awaited return, only one mystery about Windows 8.1 remains: its release date. If Paul Thurrott (of the eponymous SuperSite for Windows) is to be believed, though, that mystery has already been solved. Here's what he tweeted on Friday:
I thought this was a joke at first, but it doesn't seem to be. One of Thurrott's followers replied to the tweet, saying he was told of an October 18 release date by a "major tech company." Thurrott shot back: "I was told this from someone a little closer to the matter."

Much like the beta OS releases (And leaks.) and come to think of it I think the beta service pack releases had the same limitation.

So, the million dollar question, Any one knows when is the Windows for "Desktop and Workstations" being released? Tham this guys at MS are so dumb, WTF they don't see the difference betweens a tablet and a Desktop, Apple didn't fit Mac-OS in the iPad and iPhone, they create the IOS because it is a different device, duhh.
This could be seen as a long debated question, but I have my hopes to high for the 8.1, but I was wrong, very wrong.

Not too long to wait then?
I was going to try the public beta but I've read that you cannot upgrade to the final build if you install that and would have to do a clean install of Windows.
