Microsoft Releases First Windows 11 Insider Preview Build

Microsoft Releases First Windows 11 Insider Preview Build

Things are moving fast with Windows 11 now, two weeks ago we did not even know of its existence, today Microsoft released the first official Windows 11 Insider Preview. With this beta, developers and other users can already try the OS. Windows 11 will be officially released at the end of this year. Upgrades for Windows 10 users will follow from 2022.

Many of the improvements announced during the launch of Windows 11 last week are included in the first official Insider Preview, version 22000.51. The initial beta version has a revamped start menu, a new taskbar, widgets, and a redesigned Microsoft Store, among other things. In Insider Preview Build 22000.51, the explorer, settings menu, and lockscreen have all been redesigned.

The hardware requirements for Windows 11 are still up in the air. Microsoft first mentioned a'soft floor,' which comprised a TPM 1.2 module and a 1GHz dual-core processor. In the interim, Microsoft has updated the Windows 11 website to state that a TPM 2.0 module is required, as well as a processor designated as suitable on Microsoft's list of supported CPUs.

Users who want to sample the trial version of Windows 11 can enroll in the Insider Program by going to the Windows Update settings menu and selecting "Windows Insider Program." Last Monday, Microsoft formally introduced Windows 11, although a beta version of the operating system had been leaked the week before. Microsoft announced on Monday that it will conduct additional CPU tests in a separate blog post. Microsoft appears to clarify that the release version of Windows 11 does require a CPU from the compatibility list, but that Ryzen 1000 and Intel Core 7000 processors may still be added in the future.

Just updated the Asus X570 + 3900X with TPM on in bios since that is not my
work PC some hours ago with the Dev Channel build. :p

The Win 10 Pro got updated to the Dev build of Win 11 Pro for those wondering.
It does not feel like a dev build at all at the moment.
Not tested any games yet but most software seems to work fine.

Only thing that I had to do some changes on was NordVPN that I use sometimes.
It would not connect with the Nordlynx VPN protocol but after I changed to OpenVPN
it worked like normal again. Maybe helpful for someone using same software.

Many things are different places so trying to get used to it at the moment.
Had to use search function to find some things. But I like it a lot so far.

Seems that the Beta Channel gets the first Windows 11 Beta build next month,
if Dev builds continue to work well I might consider trying adding other PCs to Insider
when the Beta Channel build gets released. :)

Regarding the above post... just a quick reminder that NordVPN was hacked in March 2018 and that they didn't publicly admit it until October 2019. Sincerely, that's not trustworthy at all in my book.

Only one I could find that allowed me to have a video call with my parents without lag.
All other I tried so far lagged a lot. But thanks for the heads up, hopefully they learned. :)

What I mean is that if you're looking for privacy, I'm not sure it'll give you that.
If you're just looking to "appear" as if you are in another country to bypass provider limitations such as Netflix, etc. then it's probably a good use of it.

To me looks like a very early build, nothing works the way I expected.
Granted it "looks" to match more up to date UI's like MacOS or Android but implementation so far is very poor.

To give one example out of many many things I discovered not UX friendly.
In order to enable my dolby (or other sound enhancement) which was possible with a single right click on my speaker icon before now I have to:

- right on my speaker icon -> get a menu ????
- click on speaker menu -> get a window with shitload of settings nothing looking clear
- there is no sound enhancements in the menu
- pick the More Sound Settings at the bottom
- opens the sound window
- select my speakers
- select advanced properties
- select dolby sound

Feck that really
