Microsoft offers microcode updates for Intel processors

Microsoft released new microcode updates for Windows 10, these updates are intended to close various security hole variants such as Specter and Zombie-Load. The security leaks affect Intel processors, especially older ones.

The updates is targeted at various CPU series, e.g. Denverton, Sandy Bridge, Sandy Bridge E(P), Valley View and Whiskey Lake U. At the same time, the updates are offered for several Windows versions, starting with the current build 1909 down to 1507. Important: The updates are very specific and may only be installed in connection with processors that Microsoft lists in the respective support articles.

If you are unsure, you can use tools like CPU-Z to find out which CPU you are using.

No Windows 8.1 love?
Microsoft being Microsoft.
I can totally understand no more support for 7, but 8.1 is not EOL.
Or am I missing something?

Are those update permanent?
If i update the microcode of a cpu using windows, then i move the cpu in another computer, that cpu is still updated right?

Likely coming later as Windows 10 has a larger install base and is a higher priority for them.
