I am always amazed at the number of people who get confused between the terms "game" and "simulator". They are not the same.

I don't think it is quite as clearcut as that. While there are lots of simulators which aren't games there are also a lot of games which have Simulator in the name.
I don't think anyone would class Theme Park simulator or The Sims as anything other than games depsite what the title says.

Not really a game, even the name of the product has "Simulator" in it!
I could argue that the objective is to take the plane somewhere else, do routes like real planes do. Or learn how to fly the plane like a real pilot (actual objective for a Flight Sim).
If you don't like it, don't play it!
for me my goal was to simulate landing a plane in my back yard.......

What kind of plane: Cessna, Airbus or Boeing?

Don't throw stones at me, but I never understand games ( the appeal ) without actual objective. Perhaps the fact that my first games were Doom I & II and Heretic, played their role.
Same for instance for Minecraft craze.
I certainly do however understand different people like different games.
The obvious objective of a flight simulator is to take off and land without crashing, exactly like euro track simulator driving the truck and deliver something.
You will find agreement that can be boring and less exciting than other games, it mostly depends in what kind of entertainment you are in.
The appeal is in the fact that is hard, and particularly this version seems a pleasure to the eye.
I think we covered it all for this game.
