Microsoft Ends Windows 7 Support in 2020, companies can buy security updates up-to 2023
If you're still on Windows 7, Microsoft will be ending support for it in 2020. Organizations, however, can purchase an extended contract for support.
Through the way of extra dough, all of the sudden support will continue to provide paid support for Windows 7 until January 2023, including security updates. This scheme is called Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU) and will be per device, also that contract price will increase each year. The Extended Security Updates will be available for Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise customers with Volume Licensing. Also, Office 365 ProPlus will be supported on devices with an active Windows 7 ESU subscription till 2023. Customers that are in the ESU program will be able to continue to use the Office suite this way.
Though Windows 10 is closing in, Windows 7 actually still has a market share of nearly 40%.

Still working pretty happily on Win 7 (i haven't updated it one time since install), my laptop uses 8.1 which is my favorite windows (just use start 8 and turn off telemetry), in a server at home i have win 10 and had used it on work, it is OK but the update thing (it updates the machine whenever it want and even reboot it) just drive me nuts..

I first regretted stepping up to Win10, but after a while and after some reading into stuff it isn't THIS difficult to configure.
Remember when Win7 came out and they "discovered" the "MP3 bug" during BETA? Specifically ALL MP3 files went corrupt after running Win7 BETA? Users were soooooo angry and told everyone Win7 is going to be sh!t, better stick to WinXP, bring SP4 for XP and it's going to be as good as 7 (and MUCH MUCH more ...), remember this?
It's going to be (or it already IS) exactly the same with the upgrade to Win10, but the bugs have changed.
Do you know what never changes?
War ... war never changes ...
(sorry, couldn't help myself

Yeap, i did not touch w10 until a year p!us after i had claimed my free copy, that was about the right time for me as apart from a few minor issues it has been a very very stable system to use, and you bang on something like anti spybecon and disable all telemetry in one swoop, simple.

Happy with Win 10, it's as good as Win 7 if not better.
I wonder how many of those Win 10 crybabies will move to Linux... oh that's right... none.

My gaming PC is still on 7. I haven't been playing it much this year (new job - very busy). I was just thinking this weekend I need to backup, format, and upgrade.
