Microsoft disables 30-year-old SMBv1 protocol by default in Windows 11
Microsoft has said that the last step in removal of SMBv1 has been taken. In the Windows 11 Home Dev preview versions that are out now, you won't be able to use the old file sharing method as default.
These were the last versions of Windows that had SMBv1 enabled. In all the other versions, this protocol has been replaced by the more secure SMBv3. In June 2017, Redmond revealed intentions to deactivate SMBv1 in most versions of the Windows operating system, after previously blocking it in internal editions of Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows Server 2016.
"I have a pretty big announcement: we've started the final phase of disabling SMB1 in Windows," said Ned Pyle, Principal Program Manager in the Microsoft Windows Server High Availability and Storage group.
"If you install a Windows Insider Dev channel build in any variant of Home Edition, the SMB1 client isn't installed."
Since Windows 10 version 1709 and Windows Server version 1709, SMBv1 is no longer installed by default in Microsoft's operating systems, with later versions of Windows adopting SMBv3.

What's the point of using DOS if you're going to use graphical tools?
Also, if you really care that much, I'm sure you can install Samba on Windows 11.

SMB 2.0 was introduced in like 2006?
If you still have a device needing 1.0 it's honestly time to upgrade.
Tell that to my boss. We have a 1.0 printer that still works. Currently printers have a 80% markup in Poland due to global shortages.

Devices being sold right now are still using the v1 protocol for their file server services(SAMBA), the v2 protocol supporting versions is larger and doesn't fit into the limited memory on them.
in actuality, the exploits require that you are exposing your SMB services to WAN, enforcing higher versions makes sense for WFH/Corporate, but Home users are more than likely quite safe so long as they keep these services LAN only.

Dos is not about Unix server terminal hell experience.. Dos started to be nice with introduction of VGA graphics cards, which make PC platform best superior to Amiga, which ruled from 1985 to 1990 and it was even better with SVGA later. People used here graphical tools like Norton Commander, Edit.com.. hires games, Sea for viewing pictures.
