Microsoft confirms Xbox Keystone streaming device dedicated to Xbox Cloud Gaming

Microsoft confirms Xbox Keystone streaming device dedicated to Xbox Cloud Gaming

Xbox Cloud Gaming is available on a variety of platforms and devices, including iOS, Android, Windows, and Xbox. For years, rumors have circulated that Microsoft was developing a device that would allow players to broadcast their games from the cloud to any television.

Microsoft did not ditch Xbox Keystone in the end. The company is continuing to work on the concept of providing people with a low-cost device for streaming games from the cloud. A Microsoft official confirmed the Xbox Keystone project is still active in a statement. According to reports, Keystone will be available for Windows or Xbox OS. A similar strategy would allow Microsoft to combine the device with its services, like as Movies and TV. Microsoft recently announced that over ten million gamers use Xbox Cloud Streaming to play console games on smartphones, tablets, PCs, and consoles. The Xbox Keystone can make the service even more accessible to the general public.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has not yet announced or distributed Xbox Keystone. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, the business has already spent several years developing Keystone and is currently experimenting. That means Microsoft will almost certainly reveal it at the next Xbox and Bethesda Showcase event on June 12.

“Our vision for Xbox Cloud Gaming is unwavering, our goal is to enable people to play the games they want, on the devices they want, anywhere they want. As announced last year, we've been working on a gaming device codenamed Keystone that could connect to any TV or monitor without the need for a console," said a Microsoft spokesperson.

“As part of any technical journey, we are constantly evaluating our efforts, reviewing our learnings and making sure we are delivering value to our customers. We have made the decision to abandon the current iteration of the Keystone device. We will take our learnings and refocus our efforts on a new approach that will allow us to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to more gamers around the world in the future.”
