by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/12/2018 08:40 AM | source: | 29 comment(s)

Microsoft has announced that it has acquired Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity developer Obsidian Entertainment, as well as Wasteland and The Bard’s Tale developer inXile Entertainment. The acquisitions are the latest in Microsoft’s efforts to build up its first-party. At E3 2018 in June, Microsoft announced the acquisitions of Undead Labs, Playground Games, Ninja Theory, and Compulsion Games.

This forum is so anti-Microsoft and lately so pro AMD. I just don't get all the hate around all things Microsoft. They stated the game studios would remain independent, just like GitHub. What's the problem? If it means more games or content for my Xbox then it's a small win IMO.

More good games hopefully to add to the xbox/pc landscape, so this is a plus for me.
Oh and would it not be great if Fallot New Vegas now got the whole XBX 4k hdr treatment like F3 did, fingers crossed.

For me it's just a case of the MS Store/UWP being annoying.

Game breaks? Oh just down 100GB again. Oh there's an issue you need to troubleshoot? Ah to bad, you don't have access to the game files... oh wait you could take ownership of the folder... but wait now your game stops working...

Or best one yet:

Why did I suddenly lose 100GB of my SSD? Only to find out Forza updated but didn't delete the folder with the old game install (it does an upgrade thing similar to Windows where you'd retain "Windows.old"). Time to boot into recovery / linux again to delete the old version of the game because... taking ownership of the folders breaks the game!!

UWP platform is horrible tbh. If they want the platform to succeed it needs ALOT more functionality tbh.

You prefer to have games that limited to Win10 and Xbox only? M$ is just promoting Win10 with games (DX12 only), to force Win7 users switch to Win10. That how low and sad it got.
It's sad monopoly M$ doing here.

Hate towards M$ can be justified with their product quality and poor decisions. Nothing to love about it, unless you live and breath in its small world.
