Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition out next week for PC - Raytracing GPU is Mandatory

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition out next week for PC - Raytracing GPU is Mandatory

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition is going to be released next week on the 6th, the game will bring new adds additional ray-traced effects and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0. The game will be free for all existing Metro Exodus owners.

The Enhanced Edition will be available to all existing owners on Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and GOG and will be a new release of the game, not an upgrade to your existing install. That also entails the game will have updated PC requirements, obviously for all bells and whistles; a ray tracing-capable GPU, and believe it or not, that is a mandatory requirement as you won’t be able to turn off ray tracing whatsoever.

Your older save games however will be imported over to the new update. The new update thus is all about advanced ray tracing features, including advanced ray-traced reflections, ray-traced emissive lighting, updated ray-traced global illumination, and DLSS 2.0 support. The full game, with all DLC, requires around 80GB of free space, or 72GB for the base game only. The game is due for release next week, May the 6th.

Either way raytracing gpu is mandatory meaning enchanced edition is not available to everyone but only few. That can be a good or a bad thing.

Anyway extreme system req. are missing with 3090 in spec.

I don't get it. If it came out and worked on non-RT cards but was literally just Metro Exodus, what would be the difference? That people without RT cards get to feel better about owning something that says "enhanced edition" but literally get zero benefit?

Every game should just released enhanced editions after two years with zero changes lol

I wonder if the original game will get any tweaks\bug fixes etc or all focus on this rt version

Pretty sure the original won't get anymore patches as it didn't get any in a while (and yeah, I did encounter bugs when I played through it after all DLC etc. were out).

Great game though, fantastic atmosphere. I held off my second playtrrough till I'd get a RTX card, to enjoy the original RT effects. Yet and now almost 1 year later, it's the game that gets an RT upgrade and I'm still without an RTX card... "good times".

Its about people who own the raytracing gpu and how they feel not otherway around. I personaly like this and not gonna hate on it. I would be playing the game again most likely if i had a capable gpu.

Yeah, I myself like you guys wonder why do people try to innovate all the time?
Why can't we just stick to dx11 and do raster for the rest of our lives. I mean,
it's not like people demand realistic graphics or that we haven't squeezed out the living hell
out of some technology that was released back in 2009. We should all do a petition
to stop the development of raytracing technology and its hardware requirement in
order to run free updates.
