MediaTek intends to demonstrate Wi-Fi 7 soon. It intends to hold the event during the CES 2022 (Consumer Electronics Show) in January, making it one of the first companies to adopt the new industry standard.

It should be noted that Wi-Fi 7 is still a long way off from reaching customers. This demonstration was confirmed by MediaTek during the MediaTek Summit event, which took place last Friday in San Francisco. It was during this presentation that the business stated that Wi-Fi 7 may provide speeds up to 2.4 times faster than Wi-Fi 6E. Associate Vice President of Product Marketing, James Chen noted that the organization is striving to become a leader in this technology. Chen further clarified that the maximum speed referenced applies when the same number of antennae as Wi-Fi 6E is used to achieve the maximum speed. In addition, he stated that Wi-Fi 7 will more successfully block interference with other surrounding networks than previous versions.

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) has stated that it would not define standards for Wi-Fi 7 until 2024, despite the fact that MediaTek is scheduled to demonstrate the technology next year. According to the same source, this new technology may be capable of reaching data transfer rates of up to 40 gigabits per second. Keep in mind that Qualcomm began talking about Wi-Fi 7 in 2019, even before Wi-Fi 6 was officially released. According to the company's Vice President of Technology, this new technology will be capable of achieving faster speeds than traditional cable connections in the future. Furthermore, Wifi 7 has the capability of operating on the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands at the same time.

MediaTek has revealed that it is collaborating with AMD to develop its own Wi-Fi chips. They hope to use this to replace the Intel chips found in motherboards with AMD Ryzen processors.
