Late 2015 there was a rumor about a new high-end SoC from MediaTek being developped to follow up the X20. Then it remained silent for a while yet last week the rumors returned, this time with benchmarks. MediaTek is to release the Helio X30, a deca-core (10 core) SoC.

The COO of MediaTek has revealed details of the chip. Last week the specifications already surfaced, but now this is confirmed. They will be using the 10nm manufacturing process from TSMC to fab the X30. The chip will have four Cortex A73 cores running at a clock speed of 2.8 GHz, additionally four Cortex A53 cores at 2.2 GHz and then another two efficient Cortex A35 cores at 2.0GHz. The GPU side of things will be done by PowerVR. The Helio X30 should appear in the first mobile units Q3 or Q4 of 2017.
