Yes, they were still around. Mr. Lorne Trottier, the co-founder of Matrox, acquired 100% ownership of the Matrox group of companies, including its three divisions—Matrox Imaging, Matrox Graphics, and Matrox Video.

I got to play around with a matrox parhelia 512 once.....it was a pretty neat little card...woefully underpowered for the cost.

I had a Matrox Millenium back in the day, it was a great card. At the beginning of hardware 3d acceleration era they were very competitive, unfortunately they could not innovate fast enough and fell by the wayside.

I wonder why Intel hasn't stepped up sooner and spice up the GPU market? Poor AMD they compete with everyone.

Back in the Larrabee development days a top end consumer card was $499, now it's over $999...
