Logitech International has unveiled a new desk booking service designed to improve the hotdesking experience for employees and facilitate better management of shared desks across multiple locations.

The service is powered by Logi Dock Flex, a comprehensive managed docking station specifically developed for flexible work environments and shared desks. As companies transition to hybrid work models, there is a growing need to optimize office space and address the challenges of motivating employees to return to the office. This requires data and insights to understand space utilization and guide ongoing investments.

Scott Wharton, the general manager of Logitech B2B, emphasized the importance of earning the commitment of hybrid work employees to come back to the office. Rather than relying on superficial perks, Logitech's approach focuses on enabling employees to plan their in-office days together. Logi Dock Flex offers solutions for desk booking and management, while also promoting social collaboration. It provides valuable data for IT and workplace managers to gain insights into tech and space utilization.

Through Logitech's desk booking service, employees can conveniently schedule their in-office days with their teams, book desks using the Logi Tune app, and notify their colleagues within the app. Once at the office, they can easily connect to Logi Dock Flex with a single USB cable and begin working promptly.

Featuring an 8-inch display, three USB ports at the front, and three additional ports at the back, Logi Dock Flex supports dual displays, network connections, and up to 100 watts of power. It accommodates both secure, standard-issue device connections and personal devices. Employees have the flexibility to personalize their workstations with their own background photo and away message, and seamlessly join meetings through calendar integrations with the Logi Tune app. The interactive panel on Logi Dock Flex indicates the availability of desks for ad-hoc bookings.

IT teams can efficiently install and deploy Logi Dock Flex at scale, thanks to secure cable management that ensures clutter-free desk areas. Using Logitech Sync, IT administrators can remotely monitor and manage Logi Dock Flex, adjusting booking settings, managing equipment, and customizing configurations to align with the company's hybrid policies.

Logi Dock Flex offers multiservice capability, allowing IT teams to choose from Microsoft Teams, Zoom Workspace Reservation, or Logitech's own desk booking service, with additional booking platforms planned for the future. Logitech's desk booking service, managed through Logitech Sync, can be deployed either with Logi Dock Flex or as a standalone solution using QR codes, eliminating the need to purchase Logitech hardware.

For facilities managers, real-time insights and analytics on space usage provide valuable data for assessing the effectiveness of flexible office and return-to-office policies. Metrics such as desk utilization, peak occupancy rates, and user behaviors eliminate guesswork and facilitate efficient space planning.

Sustainability is a key focus for Logitech. In line with their commitment to creating a more equitable and climate-positive world, Logi Dock Flex incorporates lower-impact materials like post-consumer recycled plastics and low-carbon aluminum whenever possible. The product is also shipped in responsibly-sourced packaging.

Logi Dock Flex, available in an off-white color, will be globally launched in Fall 2023 through authorized sellers and logitech.com, priced at $699 USD. Logitech's desk booking service is currently free and can be requested through the Sync management portal. During the public beta period until July 1, 2024, premium features like usage insights, alerts, and floor plan maps are available for free.
