Logitech Halts Harmony line of products

Logitech is going sell their department for remote controls and digital video security products. Next to that it is going to stop  this year already with speakerdocks and accessories for game-consoles. The company wants to expel themselves from these products after a massive loss of 195 million dollar in the past financial quarter. Once they accomplished their plans they will focus on tablet products, products for the mobile market and accessories for PCs. After the break a response from Logitech.

Logitech’s Commitment to Harmony Customers

01-23-2013 07:15 PM

This is Bracken Darrell, CEO of Logitech. Logitech just publicly announced a plan to hold the Harmony business for sale. Logitech is not shutting down the Harmony business and certainly not the service.

This corporate announcement does not impact Logitech’s commitment to our Harmony customers. During the sale, Logitech will continue to provide customer support for Harmony customers. All current warranties provided by Logitech for Harmony products remain unchanged at this time.

We very much appreciate our loyal Harmony community and will continue to support and communicate with our customers. Check back here for future updates on this topic.

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for Logitech Harmony.

Regards,

Bracken Darrell

Indeed, I've been using their remotes for a while now, currently on the Harmony One+. I literally cannot imagine controlling my home cinema setup without it. I hope the division gets picked up and the development and support continues.

I've got five of the Harmony 300's, great remotes, if they kill it I hope they release stand alone software because atm the only way to use it is via a browser.

That, and i'm also worried if it ever breaks down : / Wouldn't know what kind of remote to get then.

Logitech equipment is so rock solid. My current G500 is over 3 years old and it still looks like it came right out of the package.

Wtf is going on these days?! I can't believe what I'm reading anymore. Everyone's either filing bankruptcy or cutting production lines / products go EOF. Time to kill myself, lol.
