Lian Li offers 3-in-1 All Aluminum Full Tower ODYSSEY X and prices it $499
LIAN LI Industrial Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of aluminium chassis and PC accessories, announces the ODYSSEY X, available in full black, and silver/black.
The open airflow full tower is built with high-quality aluminium featuring a sandblasted anodized finish with innovative folding glass panels and modular frame, allowing easy transformation to achieve 2 distinctive looks and 3 configurations. Built to house large components, the Odyssey X is geared towards water cooling enthusiasts demanding nothing but the best in quality.
The ODYSSEY X is delivered in Dynamic mode straight out of the box, and includes the accessories needed to transform into either a Dynamic-R (rotate) mode for a chimney style setup, or Performance mode for a complete change in orientation and increased airflow. To achieve this level of transformation, each part of the ODYSSEY X has been engineered to serve multiple purposes. The dark-tinted left and right side glass panels feature an edge and hinge design that makes them compatible in both Dynamic and Performance modes while completely transforming the look. When in Performance mode, the same panel design allows for more air circulation in the case, improving the thermal performance of the ODYSSEY X.
Additionally, the modular design allows the motherboard tray, front, top, and bottom panels to be interchanged to achieve the Dynamic-R and Performance modes. To complement the transformable aspect of the case, the front panels of the Dynamic mode, which are positioned at the top in Performance mode, can be flipped to relocate the vent gap either at the center of the front panel or at the edge, simultaneously redirecting the airflow as desired and modifying the appearance and performance of the case.
Water cooling focused
All 3 configurations of the ODYSSEY X can house large high-performance water-cooled components such as motherboards up to EEB, radiator support up to 1x 480 mm, fan support up to 9x 120 mm or 7x 140 mm, and an included pump stand that is removable and adjustable to help users align their tubing perfectly. With power supplies of up to 280 mm in length supported, larger high voltage PSUs will fit with ease and style, thanks to the included removable shroud bracket which hides cables and gives the system a clean look.
German gamer and overclocker Der8aur also consulted to ensure the design of the ODYSSEY X is optimized. Thanks to his contribution, the final design of the Odyssey X has been fine-tuned for maximum performance and usability. Available in all black, or silver and black, the ODYSSEY X opens for pre-order starting June 21st, 2021, at MSRP $499.00 USD.

Good gosh, this chip production snafu has everyone greedily inflating prices. I'll pass. My $65 Antec 302 is still running strong today after I bought it several years ago. I've owned a couple of Lian Li all-aluminum cases in the past and really liked both of them. But the most expensive was $300--but it's still going strong housing the wife's system today. I've lost my taste for exotic and expensive cases these days--if I can find something a lot cheaper that tics all the right boxes, that interests me far more. One thing I believe in for a midtower today is depth--the larger the depth of the case the more room you have to work inside it when upgrading components, installing new ones, etc. The Lian Li Aluminum midtower is 26+" deep--plenty big enough but still every bit a midtower. Today you see cases 10-inches more shallow routinely. The Antec is only marginally better at 19" deep--but it's workable. I'm a victim of the Imperial system--I think in inches, feet, and yards--not centimeters and meters.

I am not sure, but the case reminds me in some way of a silverstone case (can´t remember which) and the cm cosmos series (the newer ones), maybe because I haave a pretty old cosmos II, bought it used, years ago, as far as I remember, for $150.- or so. Screwed away upper and lower handles to make it fit under my table. Dremeled out almost everything to fit a custom water cooling loop. Lian Li cases were always not cheap and quality was okay for the price, but I certainly would not dremel a $500.- case in the same way as I did with mine.

why would you buy this rather than a cheaper Dynamic XL ? even if that was 109$ I would still buy a Dynamic XL
edit : is the verticality worth the price ? not for me
