Lian Li looks to lead the pack with their new Alpha case range

Picking up on current trends like tempered glass and colorful RGB lighting, Lian Li introduces new quality case and fan series. The spacious Alpha cases have plenty of room for hardware and eye-catching water cooling solutions.

The mid-towers Alpha 330 and Alpha 550 remain affordable through the use of SECC steel. The basic structure of both cases are almost identical, differing only in minor details, dimensions and outfit. The front and side panels are made entirely of tempered glass elements and provide an unhindered insight into its interior. Both are available in two colour variants.

The front and side panels of the Alpha cases are made entirely of tempered glass and provide an extensive insight into their interior. In addition the 550 cases come with a tempered glass element in the lid, as well as three of the new Bora fans and an addressable RGB-LED-strip.

For a clean look, the tempered glass panel on the right is partially coated black to hide the PSU. Cables can be hidden by two large covers on the mainboard tray. The cases also allow for the vertical mounting of two graphic cards side by side.

Lian-Li 330 Avaliable for £79.99 / 89 EURO/USD

The Features of the Lian Li Alpha 330 Midi-Towers:

  • Entry-level case designed for mainboards up to E-ATX
  • Front and side panels made of 4 mm thick tempered glass
  • Extensive cable management and smart detail solutions
  • I/O-Panel with 2x USB 3.0 / 1x USB 3.1 Type-C and HD-Audio In/Out
  • Support for two radiators in 360 and 420 mm formats
  • Vibration absorbing 4x 3.5"/2.5" and 4x 2.5" storage slots
  • Pre-installed 1x 120 mm fan, fits a total of 7
  • Supports graphics card length of 400mm and CPU Cooler height of 170mm

Bora 120 mm Fan with Addressable RGB LEDs and Remote Control

The Alpha 550 Case is equipped with three models of the new Bora fan, which are also available separately. Due to their double ball bearings they run smoothly and achieve high speeds with minimal noise. In terms of airflow, they perform around 57.2 cfm and 1.9 mm H2O static pressure.

Thanks to their modular design the fans are particularly easy to clean. The highlight of the Bora fans, however, are their RGB lighting which features 16 individually addressable RGB LEDs. The Alpha 550 and the fans include a RGB controller, PWM hub and remote control, so you can configure more than 300 dynamic lighting effects.

Clearly aimed at the Corsair crystal X460 and X570.

A330:
-Too bad they murdered the intake, I don't expect effective silent airflow when the front intake only allows for a small narrow opening at the top and bottom.
-Too bad the I/O panel is on top, but that's mostly personal preference.
-looks pretty good otherwise for the price

A550:
-Price is far more expensive, and I wonder how much of that is due to the RGB fans everyone would likely replace anyway..
-Looks and Airflow look very good on this case, no complaints there.
-That I/O panel just seems blatantly stupid to me. Every time you want to hit the power button you'll have to open the bracket and close it again, annoying, too bad.

Can't decide on a clear winnen between the Crystals and Alpha's though, both have ups and down. Prices are good with black friday, but since none thick all my boxes I'll stare at my good 'ol CM 690 AII for a while longer.

I like the design in line with new HAFs but sill waiting for a full tower with 2 (or even 3) front 200 mm fans and 2x200mm option on top to replace and upgrade my old HAF XM.

CPU and GPUs are watercooled but i like big fans. :D

Ha, not sure I like the patterning on the front & top panels - reminds me of a mock Georgian home!

Cool looking case! But.. I still like my 570x better. Prefer the curves and overall design of the front and top mesh.
