LG Releases Three New UltraWide Monitors
LG has unveiled three new UltraWide monitors: the 38-inch curved 38UC99, 34-inch curved 34UC79G, and 34-inch flat 34UM79G. The flagship product is the LG 38UC99, a 38-inch curved IPS display.
This monitor supports a max resolution of 3840×1600, offering plenty of screen space for multitasking purposes. For artists and designers, the 38UC99 offers 99% sRGB color coverage. LG claims the 38UC99 is the first UltraWide monitor to feature a a USB Type-C port, ideal for quick charging of mobile devices. Two integrated 10W Bluetooh speakers are also present, offering bass output in the 85hz range. The 38UC99 is expected to launch next month for $1499.
Next up, the 34UC79G is a 34-inch curved IPS gaming monitor featuring a 144hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync support. LG is calling this model the “world’s first 144Hz IPS 21:9 Curved UltraWide gaming monitor”. The company is touting several unique features with this model, including Black Stabilizer and Dynamic Action Sync which improve image contrast and reduce input lag respectively. Other gamer-centric features include a mouse cable hook and the ability to display an onscreen crosshair for improved accuracy in FPS games. The 34UC79G will launch in October for $699.
Last on the list is the 34UM79G, which trades FreeSync support for a flat 34-inch screen and integrated Google Cast capabilities. This means the 34UM79G will be able to stream content from multiple devices out of the box. With ultra-thin bezels and SplitScreen features for 14 layout options, this monitor provides as an answer for hungry multimedia enthusiasts. The 34UM79G will launch in November for the price of $599.
LG has clearly focused tons of effort into positioning these models above the competition in terms of specs, and, naturally, they carry lofty price tags to match. All three UltraWide monitors will be present at the IFA 2016 trade show in Berlin next week, so hopefully we’ll learn more about them soon.

LG Electronics (LG), the industry leader in wide 21:9 aspect monitors for three consecutive years, is prepared to unveil two new 21:9 UltraWideTM monitors at IFA 2016 in Berlin. The 38-inch UltraWide curved monitor (model 38UC99) and 144Hz IPS 21:9 Curved UltraWide gaming monitor (34UC79G) represent significant advances in display innovation. Both monitors boast classic features that LG's 21:9 UltraWide monitors have become famous for, such as wide field of view, vivid color rendering as well as ease of usability.
Offering unrivaled screen real-estate, model 38UC99 is ideal for tasks that require attention to details. In addition to its roomy design, this monitor's advanced IPS UltraWide QHD+ (3840 x 1600) resolution and wide color gamut covering 99 percent of the sRGB color space make the 38UC99 a natural choice for anyone who takes visual performance seriously. The monitor boasts crystal clear immersive picture quality alongside a number of convenience enhancing features, creating an unparalleled user experience. These factors make the 38UC99 the perfect workstation monitor for visual content creators, data crunchers and other multitasking professionals.
And the 38UC99 is just as suitable for entertainment as it is for workplace efficiency. With two 10W built-in Bluetooth compatible speakers, the 38UC99 offers Rich Bass audio output in the 85Hz bass range. This impressive audio system improves the entire user experience with its deep, rich sound. The one millisecond Motion Blur Reduction feature streamlines gameplay by minimizing afterimages that often occur in fast-paced games.
As the world's first 144Hz IPS 21:9 Curved UltraWide gaming monitor, the 34UC79G combines a blindingly fast refresh rate with advanced one millisecond Motion Blur Reduction. The monitor boasts seamless image transitions without annoying afterimages and the IPS display delivers accurate color expression from any angle without distortion. The monitor also offers a crosshair option which adds a fixed target to the center of the screen to increase accuracy during FPS games and a mouse line hook to prevent drag resistance caused by the mouse's cable. 34UC79G also includes a number of practical design features fit well into gaming station setup without hindering gaming such as tilting, adjusting the height and the mouse line hook which minimizes tangled cords.
"With tablets and smartphones at their disposal, consumers today don't feel shackled to their desks anymore so it's more important than ever that their monitors offer additional user benefits and conveniences," said Brian Kwon, president of LG Home Entertainment Company. "LG is the number one brand in the 21:9 monitor space because we were first to recognize that consumers are adopting a new way of working and playing that put them ahead of the competition whether that's working or playing."
Visitors to the LG booth (Hall 18) at IFA 2016 will be able to experience LG's new 21:9 UltraWideTM monitors for themselves from September 2-7.

I run 3440x1440 just fine on a 290x. AMD loves high resolutions... plus a lot cheaper to implement adapative sync(freesync) then royalty laden g-sync.

Most people who have the money to buy all this high end stuff buy NVidia gpus. This monitor is a waste. I'm don't care either way about brands "they dont come visit the family or take me to dinner" but it's the truth.

Yeah it should be but then there's AMD's Crossfire support lately.

(Well they did just release a driver for Battlefield 1 and Mankind Divided so I guess it's improving slightly, at least for the big profile games or games supported by AMD in some way.)

Yeah. I don't know how these guys think who would buy these in high volumes? AMDs market share is ridiculously low, especially on high end. You basically need high end NV card to run these screens with latest games but G-Sync is not supported which doesn't make much sense.
