LG Offers new 27-inch Full HD 240Hz gaming monitor (27GK750F-B)

Right after its exciting HDR600 display announcement, another gaming monitor was announced by LG. The LG 27GK750F-B Offers a Full HD 27-inch display at a 240Hz refresh rate, being AMD FreeSync compatible.

The screen is based on an 8-bit Full HD (1920x1080) TN panel with a 3H anti-glare coating. It is an 8-bit per channel screen, thus offers 16.7 million colors, it does come with a proper 400cd/m2 brightness and has 170°/160° viewing angles. The GtG response time is 2ms. You can reach 1ms by using LG's motion blur reduction technology, however when used, FreeSync will not be available.

LG offers a selection of connectivity in the form of 1x DisplayPort 1.2a and 2x HDMI 2.0 inputs, a dual-port USB 3.0 hub with quick charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It has a decent adjustable stand offering -5º to 15º tilt, -20º to +20º swivel, 0º to 90º pivot, and 110mm height adjustments. You can download the full spec sheet here (PDF).

The LG 27GK750F-B has a suggested retail price of 549.99 USD.

Before anyone says "but the resolution is 1080p..." Yeah, it's a gaming monitor for people who want the highest refresh rate possible. 4k is a stupid thing that has been put in people heads so they can make more money. It's not needed.

So what you're saying is, extra quality, the thing that makes a monitor, is more beneficial then some nonsense hz range past 120?

And yes, this 27" monitor @ 1080p is way too low of a resolution. 1440p minimum.

Size to resolution ratio is not the worst thing in case of this screen, the worst part is TN matrix. Make it IPS and i will consider this monitor as higher resolution always can be enabled with VSR.

Except, that's not higher resolution.

Resolution is physical. You can't change something that is physical.

You can run something at a higher resolution that is then downscaled, sure, but that doesn't do squat for actually seeing more detail.

While I completely agree with you regarding the 4k hype, I do believe 1080p is a bit low for a 27 inch screen. 1440p is the sweet spot for that size.
That being said, I'd always take the monitor with 120Hz or higher refresh rate regardless of resolution (okay, maybe except 720p on a 24 inch or higher screen). And in my opinion 75Hz should be the new standard. The difference is quite big over 60Hz.
