LG Electronics Launches UltraGear 27GN950 4K IPS / 144Hz / HDR600 gaming monitor.

The new UltraGear monitor builds on the fast, accurate colors of its predecessor to deliver 4K resolution for maximum gaming impact. A combination of speed, high resolution and 98 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space 3 gives gamers a total sense of immersion.

And thanks to VESA Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology, the 27GN950 can deliver virtually lossless 4K UHD images in 10-bit color with a 144Hz refresh rate via just a single DisplayPort cable. The Display sync technology is AMD's top FreeSync Premium Pro (compliant with G-Sync Compatible), it supports DCI-P3 98% wide color gamut display and Display HDR 600 high dynamic range. It also has functions such as "Sphere Lighting," a lighting function that changes the light according to background music and sound effects, "DAS mode" that minimizes the time lag of the video signal, and "black stabilizer" that enhances the visibility of dark scenes.

The main specifications are approximately 1.70 billion display colors, a brightness 400 cd/㎡ (peak 600 cd/㎡), contrast ratio 1,000:1, and viewing angle horizontal/vertical 178°. Interface is HDMIx2, DisplayPortx1, headphone terminal x1, USB3.0 hub x2. The main body size is 609 mm in width, 291 mm in depth, 461 to 571 mm in height, and 7.7 kg in weight. The stand supports -5 to 15° tilt, 110mm height adjustment, 90mm pivot, VESA mounter has 100x100mm pitch.

LG’s one-of-a-kind monitor supports hardware calibration enabling the company’s proprietary Nano IPS display to offer the most precise color reproduction possible. And with VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, the UltraGear 27GN950 guarantees at a certain level of quality in the form of guru quality color accuracy, dynamic contrast, high luminance and a wide color gamut. NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and support for HDR ensures enhanced image quality with reduced screen tearing and minimized stutter that works seamlessly with VESA DSC for an incredibly realistic and exhilarating gaming experience.

“We are excited to bring NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible support to LG’s most advanced UltraGear model yet,” said Kaustubh Sanghani, vice president and general manager, GeForce OEM at NVIDIA. “Gamers will be blown away by the responsiveness and the lifelike visuals when playing the latest PC games that feature real-time ray-tracing powered by GeForce technology.”

LG’s new UltraGear is the ideal all-in-one solution for those who livestream their gaming sessions thanks to its expansive 4K-resolution screen. The generously proportioned display can also be a big advantage for creative professionals when editing high-resolution files or accessing multiple applications simultaneously. What’s more, support for 10-bit color depth and hardware calibration gives the monitor the level of color accuracy needed for professional-level video production work.

“Our latest gaming monitor delivers the unrivalled performance consumers have come to expect from LG UltraGear,” said Jang Ik-hwan, senior vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company. “UltraGear monitors will continue to push the boundaries of monitor technology, leveraging our advanced IPS 1ms GTG display technology to take gaming to even greater heights.”

The 27GN950 will be the first LG UltraGear monitor to sport the new “wings” emblem designed specifically with victory in gaming in mind. If this have been a 32" then I would have bought it asap, but the 27" is just stupid for 4K so ones again they seem to be able to mess up another potential gaming monitor. Damn them all
Same here, i dont get why they keep on trying 27'' 4k to me its way to small, 32'' is the minimum imo that 4k is worth, hope we see one soon from LG.

I can confirm. I used 4K 28" for 2-3 years. Now I have 1440p" 27" (practically this same LG monitor but in 1440p). I don't miss 4K at all.

However, I also have doubts about a 32" monitor. (No matter the resolution). I'm not sure I'd be comfortable playing at 32".
27" it's already big for the distance I use.

Another example is my 4K 55" TV. I still prefer to play at 1440p 27" from desk than 4k 55" from sofa.
4k has to be the proper size and distance to be appreciated. At 27" 4k is pointless since fine details are difficult to make out on such small screen size. 1440p is more practical at that size.
4k 55" at several feet away is also pointless because too far to make out the fine details, 1080p would be fine from several feet away.
32-43" is about perfect for 4k for desktop usage (not on desktop, but wall mounted just above it).

^ Add affordable to your wish list as well. The rumor that Asus' and Acers PG32UQX and X32 are $3,499.99 is asinine!

LOL Well not sure I care about it being cheap but yeah not over 3K either that's just nonsense. We can buy a 65" OLED TV for that price.

Not a single mention of backlight technology => some shitty cheap single source backlight (no full-array, mini-LED or OLED level lighting)

Only 400 nits (600 only on small window), and with no proper backlight that means horrible blooming.

And yes 4K in a 27" => too small

we already have like a million monitors like this, why the hell do they keep coming out? samsung at least went for 240hz, for whatever thats worth

one would think saturating the market would yield lower prices but they just keep going up anyway, imagine the prices for FALD on steroids(mini led)... just to have a bit less haloing here and there
