MSI is rumored to have at least eight different models of the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card. Now, two of these models - the RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio and the RTX 4070 Ventus 3X - have leaked online
Notably, these will be the first RTX 40 series graphics cards without a 16-pin 12VHPWR connector. The MSI RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio is a more premium option with a 2.5-slot design, triple-fan cooler, and added RGB effects. It also features the 16-pin 12VHPWR connector. On the other hand, the budget-friendly MSI RTX 4070 Ventus 3X has a triple-fan cooling system that only takes up two slots and requires a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. While both models are factory-overclocked, the Gaming X Trio is expected to offer greater overclocking potential.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is still anticipated to launch on April 13th, targeting an MSRP of $599. The MSI RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio will likely be a more expensive variant, with only the Suprim edition being costlier. The Ventus 3X and Ventus 2X series are expected to be closer to the MSRP.
As previously mentioned, MSI is developing at least eight distinct models based on the NVIDIA RTX 4070 non-Ti. This AD104-based card, set to launch next week, will be the first NVIDIA card featuring the Ada Lovelace architecture to offer standard power connectors. Gigabyte has also confirmed plans to divide its lineup into two groups, with the first group utilizing an 8-pin power connector and the second featuring a modern 16-pin design. Upcoming RTX 40 models launching this quarter are expected to follow suit.
The MSI lineup will include Ventus 2X, Ventus 3X, Gaming, and SUPRIM models. Images of the Ventus 3X and Gaming X Trio have surfaced, with the former being a budget-oriented SKU requiring one 8-pin power connector, while the latter, a higher-tier GPU, will rely on a 16-pin connector.
The Gaming Trio has a 2.5 slot design, while the Ventus 3X is MSI's first RTX 40 card with a dual-slot design. Notable changes to the design compared to the RTX 4070 Ti include the 8-pin power connector. The Gaming Trio GPU will be visibly wider and longer, targeting higher overclocking potential. Both cards are factory-overclocked, and even the 8-pin RTX 4070 cards are confirmed to offer some factory boost. The MSI RTX 4070 series is set for release on April 13th. The Gaming X Trio is likely to be the second priciest card in the MSI lineup (following the Suprim series), while the Ventus 3X and 2X (dual-fan) are expected to target NVIDIA's MSRP of $599.
