Asustek Computer, Gigabyte Technology, Micro-Star International (MSI) and Lenovo are all planning to showcase their latest gaming notebooks using Intel's new processors and Nvidia's new GPUs at CES 2017. Motherboard players are also expected to unveil their 200 series motherboards and mini PC products during the show.
However, the vendors' aggressive moves are expected to trigger a new wave of price war in the gaming notebook market in 2017. Currently, Asustek and MSI are the top-2 players in the gaming market, while Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell have all been adjusting their business strategies for gaming notebook product lines and will increase their offerings for the inexpensive US$899-1,299 price range. Lenovo has been especially aggressive and is releasing gaming products in China with competitive prices and specifications to compete for market share against second- and third-tier gaming product vendors.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics also are eyeing South Korea's gaming market and are reportedly started pushing product developments for the market though no detail has yet been confirmed.
