Kioxia is to release UFS memory that is compatible with the MIPI Alliance's high-speed serial transmission (physical layer) standard "MIPI M-PHY v5.0."

The NAND flash memory is based on Kioxia's newest 3D flash memory technology, called "BiCS FLASH," and the portfolio comprises three versions with capacities of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Additionally, by supporting "MIPI M-PHY v5.0," interface rates of up to 23.2 Gbps in HS-GEAR 5 mode are supported (46.4 Gbps when 2-lane mode is set). In the 256GB model, sequential reading is about 90%, writing is about 70%, random reading is about 35%, writing is about 60%, which is significantly improved from the previous generation, and it is a high-end smartphone and application that utilizes 5G. The user experience has the potential to be considerably enhanced.

The 256GB variant will begin delivering as a sample on February 25, and the commercial versions will be extended gradually beginning in August. Specifications are subject to vary throughout mass production.
