Kioxia held a ceremony for the "7th Manufacturing Building" (Y7 Building) with the aim of increasing the production capacity of the 3D flash memory "BiCS FLASH" at the Yokkaichi Plant (Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture). The construction will be divided into two phases, and the completion of the first phase is scheduled for spring 2022.

The "7th Manufacturing Building" will adopt a seismic isolation structure that absorbs the shaking of the earthquake, and will be equipped with the latest energy-saving manufacturing equipment, making it an environmentally friendly factory. In addition, the productivity of the entire factory will be further improved by introducing a production system that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI).

The partnership between Kioxia and Western Digital will continue, and we will also cooperate in the operation of the manufacturing building. We will also make joint investments in the "7th Manufacturing Building" for 6th generation 3D flash memory, etc., and establish a system to flexibly produce and ship cutting-edge flash memory products according to market needs.
