Ivy Bridge-E based Core i7 HEDT lineup details

Details of Intel's upcoming Ivy Bridge-E based Core i7 HEDT lineup. Expected to hit the market in Q3 2013, the lineup may look quite similar to the current Sandy Bridge-E lineup. This means a quad-core part in the $300-$400 range, a six-core unlocked model in the $500-$600 range, and an Extreme Edition six-core version around the $1000 mark.

All three versions will use the LGA2011 socket and will be compatible with current X79 motherboards (after a BIOS update). DDR3-1866 is expected to be the standard memory frequency for these processors. Check out the chart.

Are you upgrading? and if, are you on some kind of upgrade program so it's less expensive. I'm interested in stepping up but only if it's 70% cost to upgrade at most.

I was going to buy an i7-4770K in the summer but I may wait for the i7-4930K instead. Quad-core CPUs are fine for now but maybe once the new consoles are released in late 2013/early 2014 then six-core CPUs could start to become more necessary. I have plenty of time to decide at least as my 4.5 year old i7-920 is still going strong.
