Intel has recently spun off its graphics processing unit (GPU) business organization but remains committed to GPU research and development. In line with the increasing demand for artificial intelligence and e-sports, Intel plans to release product roadmaps that can match its core central processing units (CPUs) for target markets.

The second-generation Battlemage graphics chip with Xe2 architecture is set to launch in the second half of 2024, followed by the third-generation Celestial graphics chip with Xe3 architecture in the second half of 2026.

Intel's GPU product line will continue to cooperate with wafer foundries, with TSMC as its sole partner. The second-generation Battlemage graphics chip will adopt TSMC's 4-nanometer process, expected to begin production in the first half of 2024, while the third-generation Celestial graphics chip will use TSMC's 3-nanometer N3X process and enter volume production in the first half of 2026.

Intel's Ponte Vecchio graphics chip for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, which uses TSMC's 7nm and 5nm process, and the second-generation Rialto Bridge graphics chip have been cancelled, with resources focused on the development of the new Falcon Shores graphics chip. TSMC's 4-nanometer and 3-nanometer chips will be used for the connected crystal chips and computing chips, expected to enter production in 2024 and shipping to customers in 2025.
