Intel Xeon W-3275 with 28 cores spotted in Geekbench

Intel Xeon W-3275 with 28 cores spotted in Geekbench

Intel unveiled the 28-core Xeon W-3175 (a consumer processor) a few month ago, however a new CPU has turned up at Geekbench listed as  Xeon W3275, and that sounds like a successor.

This CPU probably uses the same fabrication node as the ninth generation Core CPUs , it has 28 cores and 56 threads. The new variant scored 5,211 points in the single-core benchmarks, placing it between the Core i9 7940X (39,298) and the i9 9940X (40,928 points). The multi-core score is more interesting: the chip set a score of 39,869 points there, making it one of the best chips. For comparison: the Threadripper 2990WX scores about 34692 points in the multi-core test by Geekbench.

Very intersting is the low base clock, which has gone from 3.1 GHz with the Xeon W-3175 to 2.49 GHz. The single-core boost is somewhat higher; that is at 4.58 GHz. With the 3175 this was 4.3 GHz. It is not yet known exactly when this successor should appear in workstations, and not for what price. We also see an enormous amount of L3 cache: 38.5 MB. The L2 is also short on 28 MB. It is striking that the socket used would be lga 1151.

In any case, the 3175 should now be available for a suggested retail price of 3,000 USD. For the time being, you will only be able to get this chip by purchasing a workstation from an OEM , so it is not yet available as a separate SKU. It is to be expected that this will also be the case with the W-3275.

You have 72threads(wow) so no wonder. Still, single thread performance on your chip is lower.

Okay, who can spot the discrepancy in this screenshot? If it is a Xeon processor, how comes the socet type iss an 1151 LGA? Even Supermicro says it's a 3647 LGA socket and not 1151 LGA...

maybe this screenshot is not genuine...

could be a simple detection issue in geekbench, due to a new platform.

mind you my platform is from circa 2015, but has 90mb L3 cache, and also my procs are turbo hacked(3.5ghz all 72 threads)

$3000? That's actually not too shabby . I still wouldn't buy it.
