Intel Xeon E5-2699 V5 Skylake-EP CPU Spec Surfaces has 32 Cores

Intel Xeon E5-2699 V5 Skylake-EP CPU Spec Surfaces has 32 Cores

Yep, it's a gargantula. While Intel already has 22-core processors in its Xeon line-up, you may add to that 24, 28 and 32 core Xeon processors. Photos appeared online on taobao.com showcasing a Xeon E5-2699 V5 processor (Skylake-EP) that has 32 Cores and thus a whopping 64 Threads.

So this Intel Xeon E5-2699 V5 Skylake-EP will have a 10 more cores over that 22 core Xeon E5-2699 V4. As shown on the laser inscription, this processor runs at a 2.1 GHz base clock on the cores, we do not know anything about any turbos (if it has any) if so they likely are binned thus not all of them will run that speed when fully stressed.

Why 32-cores ? Well, likely not market demand, but maybe to compete with AMD? AMD has a 32-core Naples processor planned in the line-up. That one has 32 Zen cores along with 64 threads. The product would be huge and is based on a LGA 3647 socket. An earlier slide that mentioned the up-to 28 cores processor already indicated the ability ti run a 6-channel memory system, increasing the memory bandwidth (DIMM support up-to 2133 MHz). Skylake-EP is made on a 14nm process, the processor likely is to cost thousands of USD, in the 4000 USD ranges.

Check the photos, that thing is huge!

Oh boy! Amd hasn't even released zen yet and intel already has an answer! These guys are just way to strong to compete with them.the price is pretty scary tough, Buy a used car or a CPU? Hmmmm.......lol.

Agree those prices are scary, I hope so I will find ES chip, but still ES chip will cost around $ 1000USD or more

Hopefully Zem "Naples" will cost less and can be OC too, this would be perferct

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jura
