Intel Xe graphics card spotted in benchmark database (no benchmarks though).

Intel Xe graphics card spotted in benchmark database (no benchmarks though).

By 2020 Intel's first graphics cards based on the Xe architecture will be released. The first test phase has already been completed, as Intels Robert "Bob" H. Swan mentioned in a statement after the announcement of the quarterly results in late October - it was an "important milestone ."

Now all of the sudden an entry in the benchmark database of GFXBench is spotted. There, a device named "Graphics gfx-driver-user-feature_dg1_poweron-27723 DCH ReleaseInternal" listed. The abbreviation "dg1" stands for Discrete Graphics 1 and has long been associated with Intel's Xe architecture. The latest discovery was made by the @KOMACHI.

No real benchmark was performed or the results have been restricted from viewing neither will; you be able to read out specs, but only a so-called power-on test - the card was put into operation. Instead of detailed results you will find only "N/A" (not available). But this at least proves the functionality of the GPU and the device drivers. Rumors assume up to 512 EUs (execution units) for Xe, which should be about the same as the performance of a Geforce RTX 2080. Xe graphics cards are expected somehwere in the middle of 2020 at the earliest.

I think the execution will be fine on the hardware side, also I cannot imagine Intel having drivers as poor as AMD sometimes have. As AMD Navi has not really put pricing pressure on nvidia ( they just upped the peformance with Super series) perhaps Intel can put price pressure on.

What process are these XE graphics cards running on, is it 10nm? I seem to recall it is. Does that mean it will be cheap or expensive considering Intels known 14nm supply issues. I am a bear of very little brain in this respect.
Intel has some of the worst graphics drivers on windows imo, at least the last time i used them it was bad, but maybe things have changed, And yes the XE will be 10nm.
Should be "ok" , since gpus generally dont need to run at very high clocks, most of intel's problems with 10nm these days ,seem to point to poor power efficiency at higher clockspeeds, if intel thinks they can ship an icelake serverchip next year, i dont see why they wouldn't be able to ship a gpu, I would not expect it to be cheap though.

Look at this one:

Look at those images, 3 pictures, bottom of the page, card looks luxurious, real beauty!

Here's one of them, look at it, Jesus:

Those are nothing but concept renderings. Chances are, the cards will have a standard issue, blower type cooler on it.

They must be able to beat Nvidia and AMD either in performance or price to compete or else the card/s will fail imho. The gpu market history has shown there's no room for a 3rd competitor.
