Intel Xe (DG1) desktop graphics card listed at Sandra, listed at 768 shader processors
At CES Intel uncovered its first development Xe based card, the DG1. A low-level card at a 75 Watt for development purposes. A new Intel Xe (DG1) desktop graphics card was spotted and listed at Sandra, and it has 768 shader processors
The card is shown having 3 GB of graphics memory, has 1 MB of L2 cache 96 execution units (EUs) running at 1.5 GHz, for reference, the 96 EUs would translate towards 768 Shader cores. These cores account for 2.3 teraflops of performance, which is GeForce GTX 1050 Ti region,
In the benchmark, the chip is called 'Intel Gen12 Desktop Graphics Controller'. This likely is DG1. This card would be used by developers to optimize their software for Intel's new Gen 12 products, and the chip could end up in various energy-saving devices. At camp Intel, it is silent on the Xe desktop graphics card front though. We have no idea if 2020 will still see an Xe launch.

Do you expect their first model to bring out 2080ti performance?

Not at all, but I'd like to see the top end model at least getting towards the 2060 Super area. The only previous one they have shown off they refused to let people benchmark it but the consensus was that it was 1050 performance.

Yeah, and it's a lower-end card, so....yeah?

Most of Intel's efforts at the moment is going to go toward fulfilling the contract requirements of the supercomputer they are supposed to build with their own CPUs and GPUs. Other than that, they will be busy upgrading the iGPU side, as always. This video card is little but an engineering prototype. In fact I assume it's the minimal effort from turning an iGPU into a dedicated video card GPU.

I've always wanted Intel to have a serious stab at the GPU market, but this thing has fail written all over it. At this point even the Larrabee showed more potential.
